Scott J. Hergenroether

Scott Hergenroether is a founding member of the Firm. Mr. Hergenroether has practiced law in Arizona since 1987 as a civil litigation and trial attorney in state, federal, and tribal courts. He focuses his practice in the areas of insurance defense, professional liability, medical malpractice, insurance coverage, and general civil litigation. He has significant trial experience in medical malpractice and personal injury cases. Mr. Hergenroether holds a preeminent- AV rating in the Martindale-Hubbell national registry of preeminent lawyers, their highest rating for competency and ethics. He has been listed annually for several consecutive years in Arizona’s Top Rated Lawyers and Arizona’s Finest Lawyers.
Mr. Hergenroether is on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel. He is a former member of the Professional Liability Committee of the Defense Research Institute. He previously served on the Board of San Francisco de Asis Catholic School in Flagstaff.
Mr. Hergenroether received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona in 1984. During his undergraduate years, he was a student lobbyist to the Arizona Board of Regents, and was elected Executive Vice President. Upon graduation, he was honored to receive the Robert L. Nugent Award in recognition as the Outstanding Senior Graduate. Throughout law school, Mr. Hergenroether was a Phelps Dodge Corporation Scholar, and served as Chief Justice of the University of Arizona Supreme Court.
Mr. Hergenroether has lived in Arizona since 1973. He has been married to Yolanda E. Garcia, Ph.D. for over 25 years. Dr. Garcia is an Associate Professor at Northern Arizona University. Scott, Evie, and their two children have lived in Flagstaff since 2008.

William J Macdonald
PARTNER
BIO
William Macdonald is a founding member of the Firm. His years of legal experience have taught him the most successful approach to the practice is an ethical, client-centered one. William takes great pride in finding innovative, winning and cost-effective solutions for the Firm’s Clients.
Prior to coming to Arizona, William was a legal analyst at the tort firm, Cascino Vaughan in Chicago, Illinois, Providing strategic analysis in toxic tort litigation. Within a year, William was selected for a leadership position managing the settlements department. His success in Chicago has translated to his other academic and professional endeavors.
Attending the University of Arizona, William was one of the few dual-degree graduates in his class, earning both a Juris Doctor and Master of Public Health. He achieved another leadership position as the Senior Managing Editor of the Arizona Journal of Environmental Law and Policy. He is also a self-starter, creating a Master’s project conducting the Community Health Needs Assessment for Little Colorado Medical Center in Winslow, Arizona.
William’s passion for the Verde Valley led him to write a thesis based on the legal and environmental issues facing the Verde River.
William has used his client-centered approach to successfully advocate for the Clients of University of Arizona’s labor law clinic. He argued in front of administrative law judges and successfully negotiated settlements on behalf of Clients.
William enjoys competitive bike racing and is an avid camper. One of his favorite experiences is going on long road trips across the American wilderness. He and his wife Amy, are pleased and honored to call Cottonwood home.
